Last Wednesday I was working here at the home office and had a terribly scary experience. Not life threatening or anything like that, but traumatic none the less.
My laptop died from a drinking problem. I was working on my laptop as usual and in the midst of straitening a few things up I miss took a full glass for an empty glass. You might say that’s no big deal, but because of the miscalculation on my part it knocked the glass over and proceeded to spill all over my laptop
Ouch!
Well with somewhat quick action on my part and some help form the head genius at the apple store, the data was salvageable, even if the computer was not. The fear of loosing the data was much greater than loosing the computer itself. Still not a cheap recovery.
I was, however, able to acquire a new computer and migrate all the information to get up and running again, but most of you know that it can be an adjustment as well as getting everything moved over and set up right again.
Now you might be thinking, why did he write this post, just so we feel sorry for him. No that’s actually not my reason at all.
What I really wanted to discuss was part of the discovery process amongst all that havoc. As I had time to be offline a bit, I realized there had been some things I had been neglecting.
See sometimes especially being an internet marketer, it’s so easy to get caught up in the online world. Either through continually pushing your business, or occasionally being distracted by something new coming along.
I realized that there was a lot of reading that I had left behind as well as some recorded training calls that I’d been meaning to get to. In a way it kind of freed up my time to open the doors to what I had been neglecting. For me in this particular instance it was the training calls that were the key, my opportunity out of diversity, my balance to the negative karma.
I was able to discern and learn a few things that many others neglected to share when it came to a few crucial techniques of this business, and perhaps it was the proper timing to do so to implement with everything else I’ve learned.
OK, so now you’re wondering when I’m going to share said nuggets. Well, I want to make sure I implement them correctly first and pass along any additional insight I might have along the way. To make sure I’ll be able to pass it on correctly.
The main thing I wanted you to realize is that even when everything seems to be going against your favor, there can be some opportunity that’s knocking or trying to show it’s face if you’re only aware enough to recognize it and grasp it. I also want you to think about those things that have been nagging at you in the back of your mind. Those little things that you know you should be doing, but keep putting off.
You’re not going to be able to get ahead if you’re putting aside some of the crucial things you need to do. Now there’s a difference between putting things aside until you’re ready and those things that you keep meaning to get to. You need to organize and prioritize. Those things that you set aside until you’re ready won’t nag you or draw your attention. You’ll know what you should be doing that you haven’t been.
Part of being able to get to those things is controlling your distractions and scheduling the time for what you know you need to do. Even schedule distraction time, or time to catch up on all those things that you know waste your time that can actually be limited by scheduling them in their own proper time and place.
I myself am guilty of this from time to time, but can always look back and see that I’m much more productive when I schedule everything out and create to do lists, instead of just sitting down and trying to do the things I know I need to do.
I know I’ve jumped around a bit, but ultimately you’ll feel better by getting to those things you know you have been neglecting and probably the best way to solve that is to schedule your time more efficiently, which will open up the time to get to those needed tasks and cut down on unneeded distractions by knowing you have to keep to your schedule and having scheduled time for certain distractions.
